PMC-AT Employee Assessment Policy

As you are aware, PMC-AT is a highly innovative and unconventional technology development firm that focuses on the commercialization of the most disruptive technology developed in academic research. Due to the cutting-edge nature of our work, many of the best and brightest technologists are attracted to our organization due to the intellectual stimulation the work provides, which is generally far greater than what can be obtained at many other types of more conventional institutions. The projects are inherently high risk but are also associated with very high potential reward.

PMC-AT is nonetheless a firm that has a responsibility to generate profits from its projects on a reasonable timescale. Like any other firm in a competitive market, it only hires and retains employees who are capable of regularly delivering on slated milestones that have been agreed upon by management. As such, we adhere to a rigid employee assessment protocol in which the employee, whether full-time, part-time, or a consultant, is expected to deliver on milestones on a weekly basis. Although employee input will be taken into consideration when determining these milestones, they will ultimately be set by management. In the case that an employee fails to deliver on such milestones three times, he or she will be placed on probation and progress will be closely monitored for several weeks. In the event that further tardiness is observed during this period, employment will be terminated.

Details of the assessment protocol are as follows:

  1. PMC-AT has a “wiki” website that is used to post documents pertaining to employee tasks. Within a few days of the initiation of your employment, you will have an account so that you can log on to the website.
  2. Once your account is properly set up, you will receive automated emails pertaining to all postings made by all employees.
  3. All employees are instructed to submit materials pertaining to a given work milestone on both Monday and Thursday of each week.
  4. On each of these days, the employee is to submit a progress report on the milestone that was indicated on the previous day as well as a description of the milestone that will be completed by the next day.
  5. The administrative manager will verify that these submissions have been made on both Monday and Thursday and is not, to ask the employee why it was not submitted. Also, if it is not submitted, the manager will make a record that the employee was late in his/her submission. The submitted material should indicate how the submission material properly meets the milestone that was stated the previous day.
  6. For any given milestone planned by the employee, the management will have the right to edit that and provide comments within a day. If they do, the employee must meet the objectives of the modified milestone by the next date.
